✜ ||  “It’s the truth, isn’t it?” Laced in nonchalance, her composed tuning refuses to wane at the blond’s retort. Her pallid fingers brush against the blanch wall, only to emphasize its blandness; azure optics fixate upon the miniature bookshelf and she wonders if he indulges in other means of entertainment rather than dreary novellas. Then, he announces that he doesn’t ‘play video games’ and that alone induces an vexatious infused sigh. She spirals the game to it’s blurb and dots an index finger at the large font that dons ‘2-player, story mode!’ And as if to capitalize on the feature, her lips pry and announce in her usual aloof vocals. “It requires two people. I can’t play alone.”

“There isn’t any reason to object, is there? I am in fact, even lending you a console.” Her persistent nature was unveiled as muted beryl eyes glare upon identical ones; she would rebuff any excuses he’d conjure up and resolve every dilemma pertaining to the game. She permits arms to cross and lips to purse into an ire assembled pout before interjecting, “I’d be much obliged if you would try the game with me, Kagamine-san.”

Determination shone in her pupils, as even a glance at her could immediately tell that she wouldn’t leave her position. Persistence can be admirable, but it could also be a dreadful nuisance. Even with the obvious implications that she was unwanted here, she still had her feet locked to the ground. Her addiction over a fictional digital world baffled the male counterpart, as he failed to see the appeal over these childish forms of entertainment. And even with her stature being so petite, he still manages to catch that sigh of disappointment when he replies back with ‘video games aren’t worth his time’. How ridiculous; she pitied him.

“The̷re̸’s ͜a̡ ̛lot of reasons ̵to̧ ͜obj̸e͜c̡t, but fine– I’ll pla̧͝y̴ ál͢o̷ǹg.” If he were to object her request continuously, there wouldn’t be an end to this conversation. That would be the last thing he would wish for– to waste time on an overly persistent android who holds some strange infatuation with the concept of mashing buttons. All the queries he pondered on posing can be held on hold for the time being, as he decided that it was irrelevant to learn about his female counterpart– considering that in due time, they would be living in their separate worlds again. “Fo̷̡ŗ ͡s̷͡omę̧̢ǫ͠n̡͝e who looķs͘ ͘͠q̴u͟ì̢e̷t, you’re pret̨ty̸ ̸co҉mm̢a̵nding.”

                                      – but that feature was more of an annoyance than anything.

✜ ||  The latch unbuckles and given a brief moment, he emerged from the door; his countenance clouds with bemusement as he mutters an incoherent salutation. She overlooks both his presence and greeting and saunters within the orderly room. Beryl hues scrutinize the inventory of the area, only locating a completed miniature bookshelf along with the usual necessities. Bland, desolated and typical of him; her expectations diminish even further when her eyes fail to locate a single gaming device. She veers her attention back him and merely comments with her customary nonchalant vocals. “How boring.”

“Don’t you have any consoles?” Wedged between her fingers displayed the newest installment of Battleblock Theater™ that she was incapable of completing; unfortunately, story mode required a minimum of 2 individuals — something that she, herself couldn’t fulfill. She clicks her teeth in slight vexation and ambles towards him with an inscrutable expression. “We’re going to play a game.” A brief pause, before she emits a sigh. “I’ll lend you an Xbox for now; it’s in my room, so come and help me get it.”

A reply was not immediate, despite his expectations that she would explain behind her reasons for such a sudden meeting to occur. Though, the unspeakable had replaced the reasonable action, as she took the luxury to enter in his private domain without permission. Immediately, he turned to the opposite direction, his gaze directed back on the counterpart of his who seems to be examining the contents in his room with no problems. Brows furrowed both in confusion and in mild irritation, as he found himself still awaiting for some response– any response– from her.

But he wasn’t expecting such bluntness.

“… You ca҉me i̕n͏to ̢my r̸o̶om without my consen͜t ́t͞ò ̵c̵r̸it̷ic̵ize it?” Obviously that was a weak reason, and even he was aware that this wouldn’t be a strong enough motive for her to break the wall between them. His attention was diverted to the cover of the case that was clutched onto by the gamer herself. It was bizarre– even ridiculous. It appeared to have a population of cube-headed citizens, as there was a blatant giant block-headed character with an over-sized top hat in the front. And when she mentioned that the two of them will engage in a video game– together– he deduced that it was probably the one that was in her hands. “I don’t p̀ĺa̢y͘ v̨ideo games. Can’t you play it by you̷r̕s͠el̴f?”

✜ ||  They shared neither the bonds of kinship nor affinity; even so, the labels of ‘twins’ or ‘mirror images’ failed to falter, only to verify the ignorance of society. But it holds no ground to her, as she cares not of what others perceive her. She’s aware of his glitch infested vocals and how costly the repairs would be. And perhaps that’s what links the two — their unsuitable positions as VOCALOIDs. The proceeding notions peal in her thoughts while she stands before an eligible entry marked with ‘鏡音レン’.

In her possession, she grasps a newly unwrapped, two player console game. Surely, it was her blunder to unknowingly purchase a two player game but admist all the excitement of the release, she was assured there’d be at least a single player option. Fingers curl, hesitate, then yield three consecutive raps at the ligneous door; she doesn’t tire when the reply is void, in lieu of the silence she primes her reddened knuckles to continuously knock till a response is issued.

A knock repeating three times broke through the silence and interrupted his involvement with the novel in hand. Such a shame, considering that he was so invested in the upcoming scenarios that were to be played in the last few pages. Nevertheless, he answers to the disturbance’s call, with the corner of his lips curled downwards.

The reveal gave him a brief surprise, as he was presented with a petite android– similar to his design in aspects of hair and eye colors, but had the form of a female. Thoughts fumbled around in his brain, attempting to figure out the intentions behind this sudden approach. Rarely would he be requested for assistance, nor did she ever wish for his company [ and he felt likewise ], so for words to exchange between the two would be a rarity.

And for her to initiate the encounter only caused more fog onto the matter.
